"Prophecy
Be Damned"
Patricia Lucas White
The youngest of the gods fell
into the clutches of an ambitious mortal, a usurper who took what he wanted
and almost destroyed the world. The Elderkin (the old gods) imprisoned
the mortal in the heart of a mountain and took away the young god's beauty,
name, and tears. Then they fled the earth, leaving man godless, but they
left a prophecy behind that said if the Nameless God's birthright is returned
to him before the mortal breaks free, then the Elderkin will return.
But that
was long ago, now the burden rests on a boy's shoulders and Sam is not
one bit happy about it. A Scribe for the Guardians, a group of men and
women dedicated to returning the gods and keeping the mortal imprisoned,
Sam has been mistreated, ordered about, and mind-scrambled. Now he has
to fulfill the prophecy? Not likely, the boy would much rather damn it
than do it, but it doesn't seem like he's going to have much choice in
the matter.
Review:
Eternal

Prophesy Be Damned is
the first novel in the 'Tales of the Penitent' and it forms a good introduction
to what will undoubtedly be a very enjoyable series. The characters are
well described and intriguing. The writer hints at future storylines that
will hopefully be expanded upon in future volumes. The story has a good
mix of magic, mythology and adventure and moves along at a reasonable
pace.
PROPHECY BE DAMNED
Book One of the TALES OF THE PENITENT

Rating: Excellent!
Are you a Fantasy fan? I'm not. I shy away
from such under normal circumstances because I find many books labeled
"Fantasy" to be pretty much the same. However, Prophecy Be Damned
blew my preconceived notions about Fantasy right out of the water! This
is not your usual fare of fairies, goblins and elves. The characters are
unique and vary from ordinary peasants to magicians reminiscent of Merlin
and a brave knight willing to die to keep his word. After reading this
tale, I must have the sequel.
This masterful storyteller gives us non-stop
action, unequaled suspense and characters you can't help loving--or hating.
All of this and more make this one of the most heartwarming and exciting
books I've ever read. Ms. White creates imagery that takes you into the
heart of an enchanted forest where you can smell the leaves and taste
the cool, sweet water, then into the unforgiving desert where you can
feel the burning heat of the unrelenting sun.
She introduces you to magical, mystical creatures,
both good and bad. The gods have turned their backs on Mankind and only
the fulfillment of Prophecy will bring them back. In this classic tale
of good and evil, you will fall in love with Sam, the orphaned young man
mistreated by his caretakers since childhood, who seems to be the catalyst
to bring the gods back to mankind. But he doesn't want to be a hero. He
doesn't know how to fulfill prophecy--or does he? The surprise ending
will leave you panting for more.
This is a book that you must not miss if
you enjoy masterful story telling and continuing sagas that take you into
the world of what might be. You will meet enchanted creatures and a beautiful
little girl that defies logic. You will meet evil and twisted creatures
from your darkest nightmare. You will meet one of this generations' greatest
story tellers, Patricia L. White.
Prophecy Be Damned is destined to be a classic
in the same class as Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

About the Author:
An Oregonian by birth and inclination, Patricia
Lucas White lives in the Cascade Mountains, contemplates a sleeping volcano,
deer, quail, and encroaching street lights, and writes whatever strikes
her fancy. Her fancy is wide-ranging and curious, but it is especially
attracted to fantasy.
Her husband and mentally
challenged daughter aid and abet her excursions into fancy--even if they
do look at her askance on occasion. Her two adult sons just smile and
shake their heads--and laugh out loud once in a while.
