"The Ghillie of Dornolla"
Malcolm Archibald

The Ghillie of Dornolla is a story of the Dark Ages, where women fought alongside their men, and bloodshed was more commonplace than the compassion revealed by priests of the new religion.  There was superstition, with fear of the Daoine Sidh, and discovery, as unknown duns and legendary lands were explored.   But who was the Brude?  And where did Fergus fit in?

Neither a hero nor a warrior, Fergus knew both as he guides Dornolla through the tangled borderland between Dalriada and Fortrenn.  Dornolla was his mentor, his saviour and his Goddess, but who, or what, was Fergus?  With his past a mystery and his present an ordeal, Fergus witnesses the world through the perspective of an outsider as war flares between two Celtic nations.

Fergus witnesses terrible things and endures the torments of the Initiation on his journeys through Alba.  But although a ghillie is a guide, Fergus cannot find himself without help from the Daoine Sidh, and perhaps it is better if truth remained hidden.
